Fans of Yellowjackets have been waiting for season 2 even since the season 1 finale. Viewers want more of Lottie (Courtney Eaten) and her cult. And there is more to explore with Shauna Shipman (Melanie Lynskey and Sophie Nélisse), Natalie Scatorccio (Juliette Lewis and Sophie Thatcher), and Taissa Turner (Tawny Cypress and Jasmin Savoy Brown). What will season 2 be about, who will star in it, and when it will be released? Fans want the answers to all of these questions.

The Plot
There are many questions fans want answered in Yellowjackets season 2. Many revolve around the cult that Lottie starts and whether Jackie has really passed away. Co-showrunner Ashley Lyle, who runs the series along with Bart Nickerson, told Entertainment Weekly, “We will be seeing adult Lottie in season 2. Buckle up!” Lyle also talked about the cult being part of season 2 and said that the episodes will talk about “this growing belief that has started to emerge amongst the girls in the wilderness and what that might mean in the present day.”
Fans curious about the season 2 plot of Yellowjackets got a few fun hints recently. On December 2nd 2022, several stars of Yellowjackets talked about season 2 after a screening of the season 1 finale at Pacific Design Center, which is located in West Hollywood. According to Variety, Juliette Lewis explained that her character Natalie’s second season will be the opposite of her first. Lewis said that while in season 1, Natalie is struggling and tough, she is a “lover” and sober in season 2.
Fans will also want to know two important things about season 2: there will be cannibalism and it sounds like there are other characters who survived the time out in the forest. Lyle told The Playlist, “we’re well aware that we’ve maybe tried the viewership’s patience a little bit with our tease of cannibalism in episode one and I’d like to assure everyone that we will not be dragging that out forever, so get ready.” Lyle also said, “there are other survivors out there.”
It’s also good to hear Lyle said that there is a “multi-season plan.” While Lost is a unique TV show and watching the mystery unravel is so much fun, it’s fair to say that fans are still a bit irritated with the direction that some of the plotlines went in. Fans often wonder if there was a true game plan since not everything is wrapped up at the end and fans don’t love the series finale. It sounds like Yellowjackets has been carefully planned out, which is great news.
The Cast
What makes Yellowjackets such a fantastic show is the all-star cast, and some great, talented actors will appear in season 2. The cast is returning to reprise their roles as the survivors of this horrific plane crash and there are some new actors as well.
According to IndieWire, Liv Hewson is now a series regular and plays the high school version of Van. Courtney Eaton is also a series regular playing adult Lottie, which definitely means that fans will see even more of Lottie. This is good news given the fascination surrounding her character and the fact that she is the “Antler Queen.”
Simone Kessell is also the adult version of Lottie and Elijah Wood will play Walter who is a “citizen detective.” Lauren Ambrose is another familiar face joining the cast of season 2 of Yellowjackets and will play the grown-up Van.
Christina Ricci told Entertainment Tonight that the actors were “gasping” when reading the scripts for the beginning of season 2 and she said that these episodes are “shocking.” It has been fun watching Ricci play a teacher on Netflix’s Wednesday and her role as Misty is definitely unhinged and out there.
The Release Date
Season 2 of Yellowjackets will have two separate premieres. The first will be a streaming release on Friday, March 24th for Showtime subscribers, followed by an on-air premiere on Sunday, March 26th at 9:00 PM. According to TV Guide, production began in August of 2022.
Lyle shared that it would have been great to have season 2 begin airing in November 2022, but they wanted to ensure that they made a quality show and it would have been too fast of a schedule.
