Yankees Send Closer Andrew Miller To Dl With Forearm Strain

Yankees manager Joe Girardi confirmed Miller’s injury to reporters Wednesday.

Miller has 17 saves in 26 appearances this season. He has struck out 43 batters in 26 1/3 innings while compiling a 1.03 ERA and 0.68 WHIP. Miller is in his 10th MLB season, but his first with the Yankees after signing a four-year, $36 million contract last December.

The Yankees will use right-hander Dellin Betances in the closer role while Miller is out. Betances is 4-0 this year with an 0.28 ERA while serving as Miller’s primary setup man. He has allowed one earned run in 32 1/3 innings. He has three career saves, two this year.
