This is bad news for Yankees fans as Sabathia had just spun his best start of the year Wednesday by tossing seven scoreless innings with six strikeouts. Sabathia is currently 2-2 with a 3.81 ERA.

Relief pitcher Ivan Nova has experience as a starter for the Yankees, so he could get an opportunity to start while Sabathia rests. Nova is 1-1 with a 5.14 ERA out of the bullpen this season.
Phil Coke will return to the majors to take Sabathia’s roster spot.
