The league will be holding the 2019 XFL Draft across two days this month, and over 500 players will be on a football team. Some of the players may be guys you’ve never heard of, but there are plenty of names who at one point were a star in college or on an NFL roster.

Fans of the AAF will also recognize plenty of names as not everyone was lucky enough to sign an NFL contract after the league folded. Players such as Trent Richardson, Zach Mettenberger and Jhurell Pressley are hoping their tape from the AAF will earn a spot on an XFL roster.

There are about 1,000 players available in the XFL Draft player pool, so about half of them won’t make it. You can view the entire list of names here on the XFL’s website, but in this post, we’ll be focusing on the names you may recognize.

The XFL Draft will be much different than what you’re used to in a typical sports draft.

It consists of five phases instead of rounds:

Skill Players (QB, RB, WR, TE) Offensive Line (OT, OG, OC) Defensive Front Seven (DL, LB) Defensive Backfield (CB, NB, SS, FS) Open Draft (all remaining players after positional drafts, in addition to P/K/LS)

Below is a breakdown of the draft order. You can read more about the XFL Draft and how it will work here.
