The teaser for Halo Infinite shows a close-up of Master Chief’s iconic green armor, as the number 117 is branded onto it. The teaser ends there, leaving more questions than answers. Accompanying the post are the words “your legend makes it more than just a number.” This clearly is in reference to the character of Master Chief, as he has proven throughout the series that he is “more than just a number,” but a legendary hero.

The phrase could also be in reference to the Halo franchise as a whole, as “your legend” could be referring to the legendary status that the game series has become, with it single-handedly elevating the Xbox brand and becoming the world-wide phenomenon that it now is today.
Twitter users have began speculating on the meaning behind this teaser, with many believing that “117” is a cryptic way of Xbox announcing the release date for Infinite, with the game getting a release date of November 7th, 2020 along with the new console’s launch on the same day. Infinite will be releasing this holiday season as a launch title for the Series X, as Phil Spencer has already confirmed. This date would fall in line with Xbox Series X’s launch window, as the console is likely to launch in the month of November, just in time for the holiday season. However, it’s also worth acknowledging that 11/7 is a Saturday, and games and consoles have a history of releasing on weekdays.
But fans won’t have to wait much longer to learn the meaning behind the teaser, as Xbox’s 20/20 conference is set to air next week on July 23rd. The live event will showcase new games coming to the upcoming Xbox Series X console, with Halo Infinite being one of the titles confirmed to be shown.
All 15 Xbox Game Studios are reportedly working on new titles for the system, so it should be exciting to see what games will be coming to the console in next week’s conference.
Halo Infinite is set to release this holiday for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
