Available now, this Xbox One update offers several helpful tweaks to the multiplayer side of things, helping to make online gaming the ease that Microsoft once suggested it would be when the console was revealed. One example of this is that Xbox One player parties will have party chat enabled from the get go, meaning no more sifting through settings to switch it on. This will be matched with an improved interface that has been designed to help players both differentiate between chat and gameplay requests, as well as being able to see which players are currently playing a game and which ones are in cross-game chat. ‘Friend status’ is now included, and rather than being a means for players to create their own social hierarchy, friends can be put into a ‘favorites’ list to help organize messages and requests from them better.
It wasn’t just multiplayer that got beefed up in the update either - just in time for Titanfall - as audio improvements were included as well. The Xbox voice command for volume is one of these, as saying ‘Xbox Volume Up’ no longer requires players to repeat the command to pump up the bass, as the updates allows them to increase the volume in specific increments. The other audio improvement is in terms of support for Dolby Digital, which is now supported through both Optical and HDMI connections for increased audio quality in some headsets, which is a useful upgrade for many users who will want to talk via headset even more with Twitch streaming becoming available on the console on March 11.
As for future Xbox One updates, it seems that many things are in store for players as Corporate Vice President at Xbox, Marc Whitten explained to Xbox Newswire
There’s currently no word on when the next Xbox One update will become available, but we’ll keep you posted once we know more.
